A lot of our clients cannot easily get to Andrews Highway between nine and six. Oilfield schedules run in rotations, some people live an hour out, and some just do not want to spend a Saturday in a waiting room. The File Online button on this site opens our client portal, and a return that starts there is prepared by the same people, with the same care, as one that starts in a chair across from us. Here is what actually happens.
What you need before you start
- A phone or computer with a camera or a scanner. Phone photos are fine as long as the whole document is in frame and readable.
- Photo ID for you and your spouse.
- Every W-2, 1099 and other income form for the year.
- Social Security cards or ITIN letters for everyone on the return.
- Last year's return if we did not prepare it.
- Bank routing and account numbers for direct deposit.
- Receipts and records for anything you plan to deduct.
The steps
- 01Open the portal from the File Online link and create your account. Use a phone number and email you actually check, because that is how we reach you with questions.
- 02Answer the intake questions. They cover the same ground we would cover in person: who is in your household, what kind of income you had, whether anything changed since last year.
- 03Upload your documents. One photo per page is easiest. If you are missing something, upload what you have and note what is coming.
- 04We prepare the return and contact you with any questions. This is a real conversation, by phone or message, not an automated form.
- 05You review the completed return in the portal. Look at the refund or balance, the filing status, and the dependents before you sign anything.
- 06Sign electronically. Both spouses sign on a joint return.
- 07We transmit the return and you get the acceptance confirmation.
What still needs a visit
Some things cannot be done through a screen. A first-time ITIN application requires us to see original identity documents or certified copies. Notarizations require the signer in front of the notary. And some situations are simply easier in person: several years of unfiled returns, a business with a shoebox of receipts, or a family dispute over who claims which child. If your return is one of those, start online anyway and we will tell you what to bring in.
The portal is where your documents live afterward, too. When you need a copy of a prior return for a mortgage, an apartment or an immigration filing, it is there without a phone call.
Security
Your tax documents contain everything a thief needs. Never send them by regular email or text message. The portal is the secure channel for uploading documents and for reading the finished return, and it is the only place we ask you to put them. If you get a message asking for your Social Security number by text, it did not come from us.
Frequently asked questions
Is filing online cheaper or more expensive?
It is the same return prepared by the same office, so it is priced the same way. The portal changes how you hand us documents, not what we do with them.
Can I do it in Spanish?
Yes. Every conversation with us happens in whichever language you prefer, and we walk you through the portal screens by phone if you want.
I started online but I would rather finish in person. Can I switch?
Any time. Everything you uploaded is already in your file, so you only bring what is missing.
Start whenever you are ready
Use the File Online link at the top of any page, or call (432) 257-7547 if you would rather we get you set up over the phone. Our office is at 700 C Andrews Hwy in Midland, and we work in English and Spanish.
